Description AE71 / AE86 – Heater flow control tap These heater flow control taps are located on the firewall near the engines intake system. Even if it has not been damaged yet these taps are prone to stop functioning or spring a leak. These can be replaced with the engine in place but it’s much easier without. So it’s a very good idea to change this tap at the same time as an engine removal. New hoses that go from the water pipe transfer pipe on the side of the engine block to the heater core are also available new, see under related products. Parts compatibility – In default form this heater tap WILL NOT suit a KE70, however it is only the mounting part of the bracket that is different between the models. With caution taken to not overheat the valve it is possible to cut this and weld the top part of a KE70 heater tap bracket to convert this into being compatible. This is obviously up to the customers risk in doing such a job.
